Presidential Honor Scholarships
The recipients of the San Juan College Presidential Honor Scholarship must meet the following criteria:


Be a second year student; plan to enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours; maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 3.75 or higher for 30 credit hours; and have a stated educational goal. The scholarships will be awarded to one academic and one vocational student.

Presidential Merit Scholarships
Every year, the San Juan College Foundation awards two scholarships to first-year students, and two scholarships to second-year students. The recipients must meet the following criteria:

Plan to enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours, maintain a high school minimum grade point average of 3.5 based on a 4.0 point scale or 4.3 based on 5.0, applicants must be high school seniors from San Juan County, OR maintain a 3.5 GPA for prior college-level courses; and have a stated educational goal.

TO RECEIVE YOUR SCHOLARSHIP
In general, Foundation Scholarships are awarded for the entire academic year; however, all recipients must maintain the minimum grade point average and be enrolled in the required number of credit hours to remain eligible for both the fall and spring semesters.

Foundation Criteria - Full-Time:  Enroll in a minimum of 12 credit hours per semester; Are first time students and have obtained a minimum final high school grade point average (GPA) of 2.8 OR are continuing college students and have obtained a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0.

Foundation Criteria - Part-Time:   Enroll in a minimum of 6 - 11 credit hours per semester; no general GPA requirements apply.  There are limited scholarships available for part-time students.  See the specific criteria for these scholarships: 1, 2, Etc. 

**All students receiving scholarships through the Foundation are required to write an acknowledgment letter to their donor(s) and attend a reception annually.**

All scholarships are awarded and paid on a semester basis.

San Juan College Foundation Endowed Scholarships


Allen Theatres
The recipient of the Allen Theatres Scholarship must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

APS/Four Corners Power Plant
The APS/Four Corners Power Plant sponsors one vocational and one academic scholarship each year for applicants in certification programs related to the utility industry. Preference is given to Native American students and students who might not be eligible for financial aid (because of family income), particularly if more than one family member is in college. The scholarships are awarded to one male and one female each year. Females in technical areas are encouraged to apply.

APS/Four Corners Power Plant
The APS/ Four Corners Power Plant sponsors several endowed scholarships to be awarded annually.  The recipients must be enrolled as full-time students (12 credit hours or more) at San Juan College, be residents of San Juan County, NM and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

APS/Four Corners Power Plant
The APS/ Four Corners Power Plant has established an endowed scholarship to be awarded annually.  The recipient must be a full-time student enrolled in San Juan College's Industrial Process Operator Program, be a resident of San Juan County, NM and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Automotive Service Excellence
Automotive Service Excellence has established one endowed scholarship to be awarded annually to a student in the automotive program. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Bank of America 
The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Robert L. and Bernice M. Bayless
Bob and Bernie Bayless have established several endowed scholarships awarded to recipients who meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Bob and Betty Berry

Bob and Betty Berry have established an endowed scholarship awarded to recipients who meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Citizens Bank
Members of the Citizens Bank Board of Directors have established endowed scholarships. The recipients must meet the following criteria:  Be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) at San Juan College; be a resident of San Juan County; and be in a low to moderate income category as follows: $0 - $24,000 for low income or $24,000 - $32,000 for moderate income.

Violet and Stephen Clark
Dr. and Mrs. Stephen Clark have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a recipient who must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Consolidation Coal Company
The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Wayne and Cassie Dallas "Treacherously"
In honor of their race horse "Treacherously," who closely competed for the 1993 Triple Crown of the All-American Futurity, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Dallas have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a resident of San Juan County, NM attending San Juan College as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more).

Farmington Rotary Club
The recipients must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Farmington Savings Bank
The recipient must be a resident of San Juan County, NM and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Garfield Street Foundation, Santa Fe
The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Jack and Twila Goodding

Jack and Twila Goodding established an endowed scholarship.  The recipient must be in financial need, maintain a 2.5 GPA or higher, and take a minimum of six credit hours.  Accounting, Secretarial or Business students preferred.

Grade Court

The Coleman Family Foundation established an endowed scholarship to assist Grade Court graduates in continuing their education.  The recipient must have a high school diploma or GED certificate, have successfully completed the Grade Court Program, and be enrolled at San Juan College (part or full time).

Robert and Monica Grossheim
Dr. and Mrs. Robert Grossheim have established an endowed scholarship. The recipient must be a full-time nursing student (clinicals are included) and a single parent residing in San Juan County.

Manuel C. Hastings
Mr. and Mrs. Manuel C. Hastings have established an endowed scholarship. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Holiday Inn of Farmington
The owners/management of the Holiday Inn of Farmington have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a Native American resident of San Juan County attending San Juan College as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more). Preference is given to those students majoring in business.

Independent Mobility Systems 
The recipient must be an outstanding full-time student participating in the automotive competition of the State of New Mexico's Annual Skills USA (formally VICA) competitions.

Kiwanis Club of Farmington
The recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student at SJC; preference given to Key Club members, but not limited to; or have performed volunteerism in the local community and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships.

Jim and Betty Kleinegger
The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Law Enforcement
An anonymous donor has established one endowed scholarship to be awarded to a practicing member of the Farmington Police Department or a dependent of a Farmington Police Department employee. The recipient must be enrolled at San Juan College for a minimum of six credit hours and be a resident of San Juan County.

Dick and Laura Ledbetter
Dick and Laura Ledbetter have established an endowed scholarship.  The recipient must be a resident of San Juan County, NM and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

J. Greg and Rita Merrion
The recipient must demonstrate financial need and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Mountain Air Drilling Service Company, LLP
The recipient must attend San Juan College, be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours, and be pursuing a certificate or degree program. Preference will be given to second-year students either currently working in the oil and gas industry or planning to work in this field.

N.A.C.E.© - International -- Sandia Mountain Section
The National Association of Corrosion Engineers ( N.A.C.E.©) International has established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a recipient who meets the following criteria:  Be a New Mexico resident; have a high school diploma or a GED certificate; must have declared an associates degree in controls technology or renewable energy; must be enrolled in the controls technology or renewable energy curriculum as a full-time student; must have completed up to nine credit hours prior to this application; must have a minimum 3.0 GPA; and must be a student member of N.A.C.E.© International - Sandia Mountain Section (membership dues to be paid by the Sandia Mountain Section).

New Mexico Land Title Association
The New Mexico Land Title Association has established the "Chili Currier" endowed scholarship. The recipient must be a U. S. citizen and a current New Mexico resident attending San Juan College. The recipient must be enrolled in a minimum of six credit hours if maintaining a full-time job, a minimum of nine credit hours holding a part-time job (15-20 hours per week), or a minimum of 12 credit hours (full-time student) if not employed. The recipient must demonstrate financial need and academic achievement. Funds must be used for tuition or books.

New Mexico Student Loans
The recipient must be a United States citizen or permanent legal resident, a resident of New Mexico, full-time, enrolled in any certificate or associate degree program, demonstrate financial need, and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.

Northwest District Dental Society
The recipient must be enrolled as a dental hygiene student.

Northwest NM/National Association of Life Underwriters
The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Orthopedic Associates PA
The physicians of Orthopedic Associates have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a recipient who must be in good standing, studying in a medical or medically-related field, demonstrate financial need and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Gregg Price
Gregg and Tamarra Price have established one endowed scholarship. The recipient must be a resident of San Juan County, full-time student, single parent, and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Renews/Auto Parts and Equipment
Mr. and Mrs. M. G. "Smokey" Lyon established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a second-year automotive technology or diesel student. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Richardson-Bannahan
Annabelle Friddle is honoring her maiden name (Richardson) and her professional name (Bannahan) with this scholarship, in recognition of the parents who have established a Possible Dream Scholarship in support of their child/children. The scholarship is awarded in addition to the recipient's Possible Dream Scholarship. The recipient must be a recent high school graduate currently enrolled in the Possible Dream Program and enrolled at San Juan College. The student with the highest cumulative GPA score will be awarded the scholarship. In case of a tie, the Scholarship Selection Committee will determine the winner.

San Juan College Automotive/ASE
ASE has established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to either a second-year automotive degree student or a New Mexico State Skills USA (formally VICA) competition winner in the automotive technology field.

San Juan College Transfer Student Award

Recipient must have completed a minimum of 24 credit hours at San Juan College maintaining a 2.5 GPA or higher and must be pursuing a degree at a four-year institution (greater than 100 miles from Farmington) the following fall semester. Selection will be administered under the guidance of Student Services. Nominations will be taken by the academic advisors and reviewed by a committee of (2) two student services employees, (2) two faculty members and chaired by Vice President of Student Services.

San Juan Generating Station operated by Public Service Company of New Mexico
San Juan Generating Station, operated by Public Service Company of New Mexico, has established two endowed scholarships funds.  Scholarship recipients must meet the following following criteria:  Be enrolled as full-time students (12 credit hours or more) at San Juan College and be a resident of San Juan County, NM.

  • Endowment #1

    Two endowed scholarships will be provided annually to the dependents of employees of the San Juan Generating Station.

  • Endowment #2

    One (1) endowed scholarship will be given to a student in the Renewable Energy program; one (1) endowed scholarship will be awarded to a student in the Industrial Process Operator program; and one (1) endowed scholarship will be awarded to a minority student.

 

San Juan Regional Medical Center
Recipients must be nursing students and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Myron and Revis Taylor
Myron and Revis Taylor have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a physically handicapped student at San Juan College. The applicant must have a medically verified physical disability that substantially limits one or more major life activities, such as, caring for one's self, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, or breathing.  The applicant must be a full-time or part-time student carrying a minimum of two credit hours.  A student carrying 10 credit hours or more will be considered a full-time student.   The applicant must have been awarded either a high school diploma or GED.  The applicant must have maintained a 2.5 grade point average on a 4.0 scale.  First preference shall be given to the most severe handicapped with a student's GPA being used as a "tie-breaker."  

Nick and Shirley Tinnin
The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Toyota Technical Education Network (T-TEN)

 

Tres Rios A.B.A.T.E. of New Mexico, Inc.
Members of the Tres Rios American Brotherhood Aimed Toward Education, or ABATE, have established an endowed scholarship. This group of motorcycle owners and enthusiasts who promote safety and motorcycle education have requested that the recipient be a non-traditional student, be enrolled at least on a part-time basis (6-11 credit hours), maintain a 2.0 GPA (any discipline), and be an American citizen.

Waste Management of New Mexico
The recipient must be a student enrolled in the Commercial Drivers License (CDL) Program administered through the SJC School of Energy. Apply directly through the School of Energy.

Marlo and Louise Webb
The recipient must be a resident of San Juan County, NM and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Jane and Stuart Wilson
In association with Pathway, P.C., Dr. and Mrs. Stuart Wilson have established two endowed scholarships. Priority will be given to female students who are single and in need of financial assistance to meet their educational goals. The recipients must maintain at least a 2.7 GPA.

Ziems Ford Corners
The Ziems family has established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a full-time student (12 credit hours or more). The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Angie Amerman Memorial
Don Schreiber has established an endowed scholarship in memory of Mrs. Angie Amerman. This scholarship is awarded to a full-time student residing in San Juan County, NM who meets the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Beverly Bakkum Memorial
The family and friends of Beverly Bakkum (a realtor in the Farmington area for many years) have established an endowment scholarship in her memory. This scholarship is awarded to an applicant who meets the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

John J. Benally Memorial
BHP-Minerals, New Mexico Operations, has established an endowed scholarship in memory of John J. Benally. This scholarship is awarded to a full-time student residing in San Juan County, NM.  The recipient must be an employee or dependent of an employee of BHP-Minerals and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Angelique Loving Blasingame Memorial
Nick and Alicia Blasingame have established an endowed scholarship in memory of their daughter, Angelique Loving Blasingame. Preference will be given to a second-year student in the nursing program - not receiving additional financial aid and who is interested in pediatric nursing.

Goldie and Quenton Brewer Memorial
The family of Goldie and Quenton Brewer have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in their memory to an engineering student. The recipient must meet the criteria of the San Juan College Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

John Carl Brown Memorial

Carl and Lola Brown established an endowed scholarship in memory of their son John Carl Brown.  Scholarships will be awarded to full-time students meeting the Foundation Scholarship criteria.

Wilma R. Cochran Memorial
Doug and Evangeline Echols have established an endowed scholarship in memory of Wilma R. Cochran. Preference is given to a student majoring in elementary education with an emphasis in library science. Secondary preference is given to a student majoring in elementary education. The recipient must meet the criteria of the San Juan College Foundation scholarships for full-time students. 

Herb Cox Memorial
Sylvia Little has established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Herb Cox. The scholarship recipient must be enrolled as a full-time student, be a resident of San Juan County, NM and be enrolled in coursework that will lead to an associate degree in accounting.

Dave and Madeline Christensen have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of John M. Christensen.  The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Alva Dickerhoff Memorial
Alva Dickerhoff established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a recipient who must meet the criteria of the San Juan College Presidential Merit Scholarship.

Alva Dickerhoff established three endowed scholarships to be awarded, in memory of his parents. The recipients must meet the criteria of the San Juan College Presidential Merit Scholarship.

Gladys Pauline Drake Memorial
J.A. and Joann Drake have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Mr. Drake's mother, Gladys Pauline Drake. The recipient must meet the criteria of the San Juan College Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Mary Dugan Memorial
Thomas Dugan has established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of his beloved wife, Mary Elizabeth Mott Dugan. The recipient must meet the criteria of the San Juan College Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Jack and Della Mae Echols Memorial
Doug and Evangeline Echols have established two endowed scholarships to be awarded in memory of Mr. Echols' parents. Recipients must be enrolled for a minimum of 12 credit hours and pursuing a certificate or degree program. Preference is given to students studying education and who are either attending college as a means of pursuing a career change or who have a marginal academic record. Recipients must demonstrate great determination and exemplify characteristics uniquely served by the community college philosophy. The recipient must have a minimum 2.5 GPA from either high school or college. The scholarship is renewable one time. Letters of recommendation indicating that the recipient's GPA is a result of hard work or a difficult situation (i.e. full-time employment) may be required.

Roger Feurt Memorial
Roger Feurt established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a first-year student enrolled full-time (12 credit hours or more). Funds must be used to purchase books.

Herb Friddle Memorial
Annabelle Friddle established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of her late husband. The recipient must be a non-traditional student (20 years of age or older, preferably a working student) who needs financial assistance. The recipient must maintain a 2.0 GPA and carry a minimum of six credit hours in any area of study.

Gary Golden Memorial

Kathy Jo Golden established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of her late husband, Gary Golden. The recipient must be a Farmington High School graduate and entering freshman at San Juan College; possess a minimum high school (final) GPA of 3.0. and be involved in both school and community activities.  Financial need consideration is preferred.

Celeste E. Gordon Nursing Memorial
Dr. Timothy Gordon and Cheryl Gordon established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of their daughter, Celeste E. Gordon. The recipient must be enrolled full-time in the nursing program and must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Steven Griffith Memorial
The family and friends of Steven Griffith established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in his memory. Steven successfully conquered drug and alcohol addiction. He was actively involved in the rehabilitation of teenagers at the time of his tragic death at the age of eighteen. Preference will be given to students associated with Alcoholics or Narcotics Anonymous. The recipient must be a full-time student and maintain a 2.0 GPA.

Stanley Harland Memorial
Mr. and Mrs. Amos Anderson established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Mrs. Anderson's father, Stanley Harland. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Mary Harper Memorial
Thomas and the late Mary Dugan established an endowed scholarship to be awarded annually in memory of her mother, Mary Harper. The recipient must be a nursing student and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Head-Brady Memorial
Through the estate of Guinevere Brady, several endowed scholarships have been established in her memory.  Applicants must be full-time students pursuing an academic degree and come from middle income families.

Mrs. Brady requests that in consideration of receiving a scholarship, that students donate time to assisting elderly persons by providing transportation and assistance for medical appointments, banking and shopping.  She also encourages students to engage in short visits and outings which could include lunch, as well as other activities, in order to gain insight and a sensitivity of the difficulties faced by seniors.  

These activities must have been accomplished within the 12 months preceding the scholarship award. 

Jeffrey B. Henderson Memorial
Dr. and Mrs. James C. Henderson established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of their son, Jeffrey. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students. 

Thomas Jacobs Memorial
Jim and Mary Lou Jacobs established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of their son, Thomas. The recipient, preferably male, must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Alvina Martinez Jaquez Memorial
Family and friends have established an endowed scholarship in memory of Mrs. Alvina Martinez-Jaquez.  The recipient must be a female of Hispanic heritage, a member of the Catholic religion, a full-time student, have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better, and has demonstrated academic achievement and financial need as determined by SJC.  The award may be used for in-state tuition, books, and fees.  An out-of-state applicant who is related to the donor, and meets all other stated criteria, will be given the same consideration.

Preference may be given to applicants who show evidence of currently working or having worked prior to enrollment for pay, OR who are currently working or have worked prior to enrollment without pay, in some form of community service.

Art Jaquez Memorial
Through the estate of Mr. Art Jaquez, several endowed scholarships have been established in his memory. Preference will be given to Hispanic students. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Bobby Kellenaers Memorial
The Cy Cooper Company has established an endowed scholarship in memory of Bobby Kellenaers.  The recipient must be a San Juan County, NM resident, can either be full time or part time and must meet the cumulative GPA criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

C. O. Kendrick Memorial
Mrs. C. O. Kendrick established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of her husband. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Bryce King Memorial
Mrs. Cecilia B. King established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of her husband, Bryce King. The recipient must be enrolled full-time in the aviation program and must maintain a 3.0 GPA.

Lucille Levine Memorial
Bert and Lucille Levine established two endowed scholarships. The first scholarship is awarded to a student pursuing an associate of arts degree, with a preference for humanities or literature and who has a minimum 3.0 GPA. The second scholarship is awarded to a returning student demonstrating leadership involvement in student and community organizations and who meets the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Ruby McGarrh Memorial
The citizens of Farmington established an endowed scholarship in honor of Ruby McGarrh, a music teacher in the Farmington schools for many years. This scholarship is awarded to a student majoring in music and who meets the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Dr. Donald M. Megill Memorial
Harvey and Kay Crowley established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Dr. Donald M. Megill. Preference is given to a full-time Native American student in a health care program. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Mesa Air Group "Pilot" Memorial
Mesa Air Group and its employees have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of John Clayton "Tad" Feazell and Jan-Olaf Gunnar "Benna" Almegard. The scholarship is awarded to a full-time student residing in San Juan County who is enrolled in the Mesa Air Group aviation program. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Colgan Thomas Mumma Memorial
Karen Mumma Palmer and Gordon Mumma established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of their father, Colgan Thomas Mumma. The recipient must be an orchestral musician enrolled as a full-time student at San Juan College. Preference is given to a string player majoring in music.

Kathleen McDonald Noble Memorial
San Juan United Way, its partner agencies and family and friends of Kathleen McDonald Noble established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in her memory. Kathleen was the executive director of the San Juan United Way for three years. The scholarship recipient is awarded to a single mother enrolled full-time and residing in San Juan County, NM. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Joy Noel Memorial
Ann Noel established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Joy Noel. The recipient must be in the welding program and meet the criteria of San Juan College Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

C. H. Nye Memorial
Several endowed scholarships are awarded to recipients who must meet the criteria for the SJC Foundation Presidential Merit Scholarship.

Shirley K. Thompson Paulek Memorial
Don Paulek established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of his mother, Shirley K. Thompson Paulek. Preference is given to a female student who needs financial assistance and who is studying in a business related field. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Ed and Mary Lou Rhodes established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a recipient who must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

The family and friends of Ray, Terri, and Gregory Rhodes established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in their memory. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Dr. John Ritzenthaler Memorial
Jean Ritzenthaler and her family established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Dr. John Ritzenthaler, a notable and distinguished physician who for many years provided care for people in the Four Corners Area. The recipient must be a first-year student in the nursing program with a minimum 3.0 GPA or a continuing student previously awarded the scholarship. The recipient must be a resident of San Juan County, NM and be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) at San Juan College.

Austin Roberts Memorial
Bank of America established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Austin Roberts, a founding member of the Board of Directors of the bank. The recipient must meet the criteria of the San Juan College Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Father Kenneth Robertson Memorial
The Friends of Father Kenneth Robertson have established a scholarship to be awarded in the fall semester.  The recipient must meet the following criteria:  Be enrolled as a full-time student (12 credit hours or more) at San Juan College; be a resident of San Juan County, NM; submit a letter of recommendation from their parish priest stating that they are in good standing with the Catholic Church; and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Harold E. Schaefer, Jr. Memorial
Dave and Madeline Christensen have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Madeline's brother, Harold E. Schaefer, Jr. The recipient must be a resident of Farmington and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Sadie Schreiber Memorial
Don Schreiber and his family established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Mr. Schreiber's mother, Sadie Schreiber. The recipient must be a Native American student pursuing a degree in nursing and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Aileen R. Stage Memorial

Becky Walling and the Estate of Aileen R. Stage established this scholarship to provide scholarship assistance to nursing students.  Recipient must be enrolled in the Nursing Program.

Joseph William Tarpley & Fran Sandoval Memorial Book Scholarship

This endowment was established in memory of Joseph William Tarpley and Fran Sandoval to provide support for the purchase of required text books for students attending San Juan College, with preference given to those students demonstrating financial need.  This scholarship is designated for text books only, no other supplies and/or materials.

Clinton M. Taylor Memorial 
Several endowed scholarships for the physically handicapped were funded by Clinton M. Taylor to be awarded in honor of Jaris Taylor Elkins, Jeannine Taylor Ferre and Myron C. Taylor. Criteria specifies that applicants have a medically verified physical disability that substantially limits one or more major life activities, such as caring for one's self, performing manual tasks, walking, seeing, hearing, speaking, or breathing. Applicants must have a high school diploma or GED and should be full-time students, carrying a minimum of 12 credit hours. Recipients must maintain a 2.75 GPA on a scale of 4.0. Preference is given to the students who have the most severe handicaps. The applicant's GPA will be used as a "tie-breaker" if necessary.

H. Merrill Taylor Memorial
Mrs. H. Merrill Taylor, family and friends established two endowed scholarships to be awarded in memory of H. Merrill Taylor. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Miriam Mumma Taylor Memorial
Miriam Mumma Taylor established an endowed performing arts scholarship to be awarded to a full-time student in the Four Corners' region who is studying music or theater. The recipient must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.

Miriam Mumma Taylor established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a student in the physical therapy assistant program.

Angelo Turano Memorial
In memory of Angelo Turano, friends have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to an outstanding choral student from a San Juan County, NM high school, attending San Juan College. The recipient will be selected by the choral program faculty.  Applications may be requested from the choral program instructors.

Douglas C. and Thelma Ruth Wade Memorial
Through the estate of Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Wade, an endowed scholarship has been established to be awarded in their memory. The scholarship recipient must be a full-time student at San Juan College. Preference is given to students from Bloomfield, New Mexico.

Lorraine L. Wadman Memorial
Lorraine L. Wadman established an endowed scholarship to be awarded. The recipient must be a resident of Aztec, NM and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Brian Christopher Wagner Memorial
George and Patricia Wagner established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of their beloved son, Brian. The recipient must be an accounting student and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Gary and Ben Walling Memorial
Craig and Becky Walling established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of Mr. Walling's brother and nephew, Gary and Ben Walling. The recipient must be enrolled in an automotive-related program and meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Walters' Family Memorial
Herman Walters and his family established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of their loved ones. First preference will be to a San Juan College student enrolled on at least a part-time basis (6-11 credit hours), maintain a 2.5 GPA and demonstrate good citizenship. 

Joe and Joy Watson Memorial
Joe and Joy Watson have established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to a full-time student residing in San Juan County, NM. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

K. O. Wilbanks Memorial
The First National Bank of Farmington established an endowed scholarship to be awarded in memory of K.O. Wilbanks, long-time president of First National Bank. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Raho Williams Memorial
The San Juan Center for Independence has established an endowed scholarship in memory of their friend and colleague, Raho Williams. The recipient must be a returning full-time student with a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or better.  All applicants must write a 250 word essay on "Independent Living Philosophy".  Preference will be given to Native American students.

Grace B. Wilson Memorial
Mr. and Mrs. Clinton M. Taylor, family and friends established two endowed scholarships in memory of Grace Barker Wilson, a retired schoolteacher, poet, school administrator and area historian. The scholarships are awarded to applicants who meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Loah & Kenneth Woodrum Memorial
Loah & Kenneth Woodrum established an endowed scholarship to be awarded to students that are studying to be teachers.  The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

San Juan College Foundation Annual Scholarships

Cecil Adams
The Farmington Desk & Derrick Club has established several scholarships in memory of a longtime member, Mr. Cecil Adams.  The recipients must be seeking enrollment in one of the programs administered through the School of Energy, in preparation for entry level jobs in the oil and gas industry.  Applicants must be unemployed and lack sufficient family income or resources to pay the required tuition and fees.  Preference will be given to female students. 

Harry S. Allen Memorial
Mr. Allen established a scholarship through his will and a trust administered by Citizens Bank.  The recipient must be a continuing student enrolled in business administration courses and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

American Petroleum Institute
The API has established several scholarships to support students in energy technology programs.  The recipients must be individuals seeking enrollment in one of the programs administered through the SJC School of Energy, in preparation for entry level jobs in the oil and gas industry.  Applicants must be unemployed and lack sufficient family income or resources to pay the required tuition and fees.  Information and applications are available directly through the School of Energy, located at 800 S. Hutton Rd. in Farmington.

Anasazi Pageant Foundation
The recipient must be enrolled in the Theatre program and participate in theatre productions.  Selection of the recipient will be made by the theatre director.

APS/Four Corners Power Plant
The Four Corners Power Plant annually sponsors one vocational and one academic scholarship for applicants in certification programs related to the utility industry. Preference will be given to Native American students and students who might not be eligible for financial assistance (because of family income), particularly if more than one family member is in college. The scholarships will be given to one male and one female recipient each year. Females in technical areas are encouraged to apply.

Blue Zenith

This annual scholarship has been established for pre-nursing students with the intent of completing the Nursing Program.  The recipient must carry a minimum of 15 credit hours per semester, be enrolled in pre-nursing studies, and maintain a minimum (accumulative) GPA of 3.0.  Preference will be given to a Mancos High School Graduate.

DaimlerChrysler Auto Program

 

Roy G. Dalpra Memorial
Roy Dalpra established the Roy G. Dalpra Memorial Scholarship through a trust fund administered by Citizens Bank. Several scholarships are awarded annually to applicants who meet the San Juan College Presidential Merit Scholarship criteria.

James H. Childers Memorial Scholarship

The Childers family has established a scholarship for a high school senior interested in pursuing theater at San Juan College.

"Commissioners"
The elected Commissioners of San Juan County, NM have established a scholarship that is awarded in conjunction with the annual Four Corners Conference for Professional Development held at SJC.  The recipient must attend the conference to be eligible to apply.  The award may be used for tuition and/or books.  Any funds that have not been utilized by Nov. 1st in the year following the award, will be forfeited, and revert back to the fund. 

ConocoPhillips
The recipient must be a full-time student enrolled in San Juan College's Petroleum Technology Program, be a resident of San Juan County, and must have or maintain a 2.5 GPA.

Daniels Opportunity

This scholarship was established by the Daniels Fund to provide scholarship assistance to deserving, non-traditional students.  Preference will be given to part-time students (6 - 11 credit hours), with first consideration to students who are EDGE participants, Grade Court Participants or GED completers.

Farmington Chamber of Commerce Health & Wellness Committee
The recipient must be a San Juan County, NM resident entering a health related field, can either be full-time or part time, and must meet the cumulative GPA criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Farmington Desk & Derrick Club

The Farmington Desk & Derrick Club has established scholarships for students seeking enrollment in one of the programs administered through the SJC School of Energy, in preparation for entry level jobs in the oil and gas industry. Recipient must be enrolled in the School of Energy program.

Farmington Evening Lions Club
The Farmington Evening Lions Club has established a scholarship to be awarded in the fall semester in the name of Leverne H. "Abe" Lincoln. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Fine Arts Scholarships
The San Juan College Foundation has established several scholarships to be awarded annually to students enrolled in vocal music, band/orchestra and theatre. Recipients must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students. Selection of the recipients will be made by the director(s) in each of the disciplines.

First Step – Bridge Scholarship

Kenneth and Mary Gathings have established a scholarship to a degree-seeking student, first time or returning after of a break of three or more years, who is not eligible for other scholarships or grants. A brief essay stating educational goals is requested.

Four Corners Conference for Professional Development
Applicant must attend the Four Corners Conference and apply at the conference. Other criteria include:

  • Must write a narrative
  • Provide one letter of recommendation

Four Corners Daylite Lodge, No. 80
The Four Corners Daylite Lodge have established two scholarships.    Recipients must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Four Corners Phi Delta Kappa

Phi Delta Kappa Four Corners Chapter 1514 established an annual scholarship.  Recipient must be enrolled in the Education program with a goal of prospective educator, and must carry a minimum 3.25 GPA

GED
Students who have completed their GED test in any state are eligible to apply.  Students must complete the application for a SJC Foundation Scholarship and submit an educational plan essay.   Students must complete 12 credit hours with a 2.5 GPA in order to receive the second semester's disbursement. Applications may be obtained at the Counseling Office of San Juan College.

William A. George Memorial

The family of William A. George established this scholarship in his memory to assist students with their educational goals.  Recipient must be a full-time student (min. 12 credit hours), maintain a minimum 3.0 GPA and possess financial need.

John Hamilton Memorial Nursing

Delores Hamilton established this scholarship in memory of her son, John Hamilton in hope of helping other students reach their goals as a nursing student.  This scholarship shall be awarded in increments as deemed most beneficial to nursing students to assist them in meeting their educational goals.

Intel Corporation
Intel has established several scholarships.  The recipients must be enrolled in the Controls Technology Programs and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Jehovah's Witnesses
The members have established a scholarship specifically for Theatre Technician students.  Selection of the recipient will be made by the Theatre Director. 

Sylvia Little
Sylvia Little has established two scholarships.  Recipients must be enrolled in the Trades or Technology Programs and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Wayne Ivan McNeely Nursing

The McNeely family established the Wayne Ivan McNeely Nursing scholarship to assist nursing students in reaching their educational goals.  Recipient must be enrolled in the Nursing Program.

Katherine J. Murray
The recipient must be a returning full-time student enrolled in the Building & Trades (Carpentry) Program with a GPA of 2.5 or better.

N.A.C.E.©. International - Sandia Mountain Section

National Association of Corrosion Engineers - Sandia Mountain Section established an annual book fund scholarship to assist students with text book purchases.  Recipients of this scholarship must also be a recipient of the N.A.C.E.© endowed scholarship.

Newcomers Club of San Juan County
The Newcomers Club of San Juan County has established a scholarship to be awarded to a returning female student meeting the criteria for the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Pepsi Bottling Group, Inc.
The Pepsi Bottling Group has established a scholarship.    Recipients must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Petroleum Accountants Society of San Juan Basin

Recipient must be a continuing student of San Juan College; maintain a minimum of six credit hours per semester; maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5; successfully completed a minimum of four (4) credit hours of Accounting coursework; and be major in Accounting.

Phi Theta Kappa

 

Pilot Club Of The San Juan
The Pilot Club of the San Juan, a member of Pilot International whose name was inspired by the river boat pilots of the early 1900’s, has established two scholarships.  Recipients must be students in the nursing program and must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

San Juan College Building Trades Students
The students and instructors of the SJC Building Trades Program have established a scholarship funded from projects the students design, build and auction and/or sell as part of the program.

San Juan County Board of Realtors
Recipients must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.  Preference will be given to students with financial need who are not eligible for Pell Grants.

San Juan County Fair Board
The San Juan County Fair Board has established two scholarships.  The recipients must be members of a San Juan County 4-H Club or FFA member and submit an essay entitled "How 4-H and/or FFA has helped prepare me for my future."  The recipients must meet the criteria of the San Juan College Foundation full-time scholarship.

San Juan Educational Retirees Association
The recipient must be a second year student interested in teaching and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.

San Juan Rotary Club
The San Juan Rotary Club has established two scholarships to be awarded to recipients who must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Single Parent

The recipient must be a single parent, and may be registered as either a part-time or full time student.

Josh Smith Technical Scholarship
Joyce Mills has established the Josh Smith Technical Scholarship for the fall semester. This scholarship will be awarded to a qualified student in the automotive program. The recipient must meet the criteria of the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.

Wells Fargo Bank
Wells Fargo Bank of Farmington sponsors an annual Scholarship Scramble Golf Tournament.  The recipients must meet the criteria for the SJC Foundation scholarships for full-time students.  

Stuart and Jane Wilson

Dr. and Mrs. Stuart Wilson have established an annual scholarship to assist women in achieving their educational goals.  Recipients must be a first or second year student, preferably a mature female student (and may be a single parent), requiring financial assistance to achieve her scholastic goals. GPA of 2.7 or higher required.

Dean and Betty Wolcott
Dean and Betty have established two scholarships, to be awarded to a full-time (12 credit hours or more) student with a 2.5 GPA or better.

SCHOLARSHIP APPLICATION FORMS AND PROCEDURES
Scholarships, like grants, are considered gift aid. Scholarships, however, may be based on financial need, academic achievement, college major, residency or special interests. NOTE: most scholarships require certain grade point averages (GPA). Please refer to the appropriate scholarship criteria to see if you qualify. To apply for the scholarships listed in this brochure, complete an SJC Foundation scholarship application, available from the Financial Aid Office. Priority deadline for scholarship consideration each year is April 15th.  Students are still encouraged to apply after April 15th, and will be considered based on available scholarships.  Additional documents to be submitted with the San Juan College scholarship application:

  • Admission Application - first time student only:
  • Letter from you listing your educational goals
  • Unofficial grade transcript(s) from the last college that you attended, or your high school.
